Summary
11-O-Methylpseurotin A is a PKS-NRPS–derived pseurotin analogue used as a chemical genetics probe.
Details
11-O-Methylpseurotin A is a PKS-NRPS hybrid secondary metabolite isolated from marine-derived Aspergillus fumigatus. Identified through a synthetic-lethality yeast screen, it selectively inhibits a Hof1 deletion strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, suggesting interference with cytokinesis or cell-cycle regulation. Structurally related to pseurotin A, it belongs to the heterospirocyclic γ-lactam family of pseurotins. Although its direct molecular target remains undefined, its selective activity makes it a valuable chemical-genetics tool for probing cell-division pathways.
