Summary
Hydroheptelidic acid Sesquiterpene lactone structurally related to heptelidic acid.
Details
Hydroheptelidic acid is a sesquiterpene lactone derivative structurally related to heptelidic acid, originally identified among metabolites from fungi such as Aspergillus oryzae and Xylaria species. It contains a modified lactone/epoxide-containing framework characteristic of the heptelidic acid family. The compound has been reported in several fungal metabolite studies and has demonstrated moderate biological activities, including antibacterial and antileishmanial effects (e.g., activity against intracellular amastigotes of Leishmania braziliensis). Structural elucidation and stereochemical assignment have been refined using advanced NMR techniques, including 1JCC coupling analysis combined with DFT calculations. Although structurally related to the GAPDH inhibitor heptelidic acid, a specific molecular target for hydroheptelidic acid has not yet been definitively established.
Mechanism
Sesquiterpene lactone related to heptelidic acid; precise molecular target not fully established.
